About Us
The Jim Thorpe All Indigenous Games is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization. The purpose of the Jim Thorpe All Indigenous Games organization is to encourages excellence in sports, academics, health and fitness. Our mission is to provide the Games to Indian children to preserve our sports heritage and build pride and positive lifestyles for participants, in the spirit of Native American Legend Jim Thorpe.
The organization is governed by a board of directors. The board members are myself, Gene Dixon, Pauma Band of Luiseno Indians; Chris Devers, Pauma Band of Luiseno Indians; Alfonso Kolb, Rincon Band of Luiseno Indians; and Mark Lopez, Pala Band of Mission Indians.
While working with the Jim Thorpe family, I have come to realize the strength and conviction of Jim Thorpe as an athlete. He is known as
a legend among our Native people. During the 1912 Summer Olympics the King of Sweden said he was the greatest athlete in the world. Even
today Jim Thorpe’s name is recognized throughout the United States. His legacy of success in sports as a Native American continues to have a
positive response among our children. They too can achieve their dreams by following his example of strength and leadership as Native athletes.
